What Salience does
Salience measures how AI answer engines see a hotel. When a traveller asks ChatGPT for the best ocean-view resort in Phuket, or asks DeepSeek in Chinese where to stay on the Bund, the engine answers with a shortlist. Salience finds out whether your property is on it, how it is described, which sources the engine trusted, and who was named instead.
The loop is Measure, Benchmark, Improve. Salience puts the exact questions your guests ask to eight answer engines in the languages your markets speak, stores every answer word for word with its sources and a timestamp, scores the result on six dimensions, ranks you against your competitive set, and turns the gaps into a prioritised plan. After you act on it, a re-audit measures the change rather than assuming it.
- Eight engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude, plus DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and Kimi, the engines Chinese travellers use and Western-only audits never touch
- Real guest questions in the languages of your source markets, not a keyword list
- Every answer kept verbatim with its citations, so each finding can be checked
- A GEO Score across six dimensions, your rank and share of AI voice in your set, and a prioritised fix list
The six things Salience measures
A hotel can appear in an AI answer and still lose the booking: named last, described inaccurately, or mentioned without being recommended. Salience separates those outcomes into six scored dimensions so you know where you are weak instead of getting one vague visibility number.
| Dimension | What it measures |
|---|---|
| Visibility | Whether your property appears in the answer at all |
| Prominence | Whether you are named first and emphasised, or buried at the end |
| Recommendation | Whether the engine actively recommends you rather than just listing you |
| Accuracy | Whether what the engine says about you is correct |
| Authority | The strength of the sources the engine cites when it names you |
| Conversion | Whether the answer gives a guest a reason and a path to choose you |

Who Salience is for
Salience is built for hotels and resorts whose guests now start with an AI assistant instead of a search box: independent properties, hotel groups, and the owners and managers responsible for their direct demand. It matters most to properties in Asia-Pacific and anywhere Chinese travellers count, because those travellers ask DeepSeek, Qwen, GLM and Kimi, and a Western-only audit never sees that half of the market.
It is for the person who owns that outcome, a general manager, a director of marketing or revenue, or a group-level commercial lead, who needs to know not just that the property is missing from AI answers, but the specific, ranked set of fixes that will change it.
What Salience publishes
Alongside client audits, Salience publishes the Hotel AI Index, a public benchmark of which properties AI engines actually recommend in a market, measured from live answers only; field notes with the sample sizes and limits printed alongside each finding; and the full scoring methodology. A free instant readiness check tests whether AI crawlers can read a hotel's website at all, which is the floor, not the win.
